ʾas-Sayyid ʾAḥmad ʾash-Sharīf bin Muḥammad ʾash-Sharīf bin Muḥammad bin ʿAlī ʾal-Khaṭṭābī ʾ ʾas-Sanūsī (رحمه الله) was the leader of the Sanūsī order, who waged Jihād against the French colonialists in Chad, the Italians in Libya and the British in Egypt. This was at a time when the power of the Muslims was at its lowest in history and resisting the Christian Europeans was thought of as futile, if not insanity.
It was because ʾas-Sayyid ʾAḥmad ʾash-Sharīf (رحمه الله) had the vision to uphold the principles of ʾIslām under the most difficult of conditions, that Allāh blessed future generations with a desire to maintain the light of ʾIslām in its purity and never surrender to the darkness of the forces of disbelief.
Herewith a brief biography of this gallant son of ʾIslām who western Muslim have largely forgotten.
